Mr Akram also assesses selected cervical and lumbar spine conditions. Procedures within his published scope include decompression, discectomy, cervical fusion or disc replacement, and foraminotomy. Treatment depends on the relationship between symptoms, examination and imaging.

Peripheral nerve & cranial surgery

His wider practice includes carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve decompression, and general cranial neurosurgery including selected meningioma surgery and cranioplasty. A consultation establishes whether surgery is appropriate or another specialist service would better meet your needs.

Specialist and research indications

Functional procedures for severe psychiatric or neuropsychiatric conditions require highly specialised multidisciplinary assessment and appropriate governance. They should not be understood as routinely available treatments for every patient.
